We wanted to convert a portion of our yard into an outdoor living space. However, we had no experience with outdoor hardscaping. We had no real plans, only a basic concept. On the first call to Dixon Landscapes we immediately knew we were dealing with a professional.
When Paul first met with us, he reviewed our yard space, he walked around our house, took pictures and he spent a great deal of time speaking to us to get a sense of what we wanted. In moments he knew we preferred a rustic/outdoor theme and assured us he would follow our tastes.
As promised, Paul returned in a few days and had a professional computer 3D model and complete layout of our project. Paul showed us his design concept. It could only be referred to as an “Outdoor Living Space”. It was amazing! He was able to incorporate our basic theme and home and propose an amazing patio space. His professional proposal included a complete estimate and a complete timeline proposed for us.
Shortly after, and on the agreed start date, Paul and his crew broke ground. There was a flurry of activity involving large equipment, material deliveries, excavating, etc. All of this activity was handled professionally and quickly. They worked very hard, showing up early and staying till dusk every day. Despite the scope of the excavation project, Paul’s crew made sure to keep a spotless and clean job site. Every night we were able to walk through the area without having to worry about equipment or dirt everywhere.
Many of the design elements Paul incorporated into our living space were ideas that he came up with while on our job site. He used true “artistic license” to offer ideas and always included us in all aspects and asked us for input. One example is how Paul harvested a unique deadfall tree on our adjacent property to incorporate into our rustic mantelpiece. This really made it feel rustic and special since it was from our property. His design concepts are unique and we feel we like we were dealing with a design artist and not a “contractor”. This was a big difference that sets Dixon Landscapes far above anyone else.
There are so many things we could write about Paul Dixon and the Dixon Landscape crew, but it would fill many pages. Let us close by listing some highlights of Paul’s “artistry”: He is conscientious, strong work ethic, great design ideas, on time, on budget, friendly, courteous and the best company we have ever worked with. We are already planning Phase 2 of our next design with Dixon Landscapes.

Tom and I would like to thank you and your crew for the FANTASTIC work you did on our fire pit! We appreciate the fine workmanship and care that you put into the job. The little extras (cleaning up after every work day, planting grass seed on disturbed lawn, etc.) were also appreciated. We have received NUMEROUS complements on your work. We are definitely recommending your company to all of our friends and family. Looking forward to working with you again in the near future!

Paul was very helpful and provided knowledgeable insight regarding the layout, color coordination, and construction of our patio. He performed the construction in a timely and efficient manner with excellent communication throughout the entire project. The job site was cleaned after each day of construction and his workers were professional and courteous. Paul has followed up with us after the completion of the project to ensure total satisfaction. We are very happy with how the patio turned out.

We used Dixon Landscapes for a major renovation of the patio in our backyard. Paul was recommended to us by a family member who was also working on a landscaping project. From his first visit to meet us and scope out our project, Paul was the consummate professional. He listened carefully to our ideas and concepts and was able to turn them into great computer designs that we then 'tweeked' and 'changed' until we achieved the final design. Paul had great suggestions and an eye for what would work best with the house and existing landscaping. The project was started on time and Paul and his crew were always on time, courteous and hardworking. Most of the work was done while my husband and I were at work and we always returned home to a cleaned up yard and often a note or phone message explaining the progress and next steps. The project was completed on time and on budget and we were extremely satisfied with everything from the final design, the quality of the materials and the perfect construction. The little personal touches -- the monogram on the wooden top of the storage chest and the Penn State Paw made out of glass beads in the fire pit -- really indicated that Paul was listening to our ideas and took the time and effort to put them into the final product. We love the new patio and are spending more time in the yard than ever before!
We were so pleased with the result that we had Dixon Landscapes redo our garden area over the winter expanding it and installing two levels of raised beds. Again, an awesome job that was done on time and within budget. We can't wait for spring to arrive so that we can start planting! We plan on using Dixon Landscapesfor future projects and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great local company that will provide you with excellent design, installation and service.
